About CANDUSEN.NET

In 2012, I discovered that computers are extremely good at spitting out random numbers between 0 and 1. As it turns out, the way computers achieve this has barely changed in the last 50 years.

Like a parlor trick, the tap of a key instantly summoned an automatic surprise. With more code, I figured, so many things could be random.

Random secondary colors caught my interest, because of the way they seemed to radiate concentrated light from the screen.

And then, using randomness, I started to place shapes on the screen with random colors, curves, and positioning to compose random pictures.
Random pictures
The browser became a canvas for randomness, which became my paintbrush. I felt attached to some of the things I saw, so I saved them. And I started to print them onto all kinds of things, like phone cases, print editions, paintings, wall decals, and shirts.

When I embraced randomness, I could surprise myself on purpose! The more random tools I made, the more images I amassed that I wanted to keep.
candusen.net became my secret place to search for random things and save them forever.

Candusen.net Vault
After 10 more years of playing around with random images, I decided to create a system for anyone to do the same thing, and to make it simple to order the things they wanted to keep. It led to the pursuit of a patent and many other discoveries.

I hope to create a place where we can embrace randomness collectively and feel proud that we have computers in our lives, ready and able to create pictures we find meaning in—on our desks, and in our pockets.
